DJ Bazz

Hello, I’m DJ Bazz and this is my story.  It all started when I was a kid, my father would take me to Jazz clubs and Broadway shows. However, he wasn’t just taking me for fun, he was working. My father was a musician and worked with some of the biggest artists ever to perform in the business. While I was in elementary and middle school my father would have me accompany him in the pit while he worked. As he performed, I would sit alongside the drummer and percussion section.  One drummer in particular became my mentor and pretty much taught me how to play any type of percussion instrument. Eventually, as the years passed, I found myself playing in the actual percussion sections themselves. As I entered high school though I focused more in particular on the drums and played for several bands. However, when I went off to college I gained a new interest which would later play an even bigger role in my life.

While away at college I became very interested in electronic music. The different sounds, tempos and melodies really caught my attention and reminded me of the drums. After hearing many DJs perform at events, clubs and festivals for years, I said to myself, I want to be a DJ. Being part of the crowd was fun, but I wanted to be the one playing the music and entertaining the crowd. Shortly after college I purchased some cheap DJ equipment and began to learn and practice.  After a couple of years I was ready to take it up a notch and invested in new equipment, pretty much anything you need to be a mobile disc jockey. From there I apprenticed alongside several DJs, learning all the ins and outs of the business, eventually opening my own.

Being a DJ is just an overall fun and exciting experience. Seeing people dance and have a good time is a great feeling that I enjoy every time I perform. It’s just an amazing feeling to be behind the decks as an audience claps, shouts, and jumps up and down all night.  Plus, it’s nice being part of someone’s big day 🙂
